The CTE Skills Accelerator provides a unique opportunity for exceptional individuals with a demonstrated interest in engineering and manufacturing to immerse themselves in the dynamic and rapidly evolving field of Rail engineering. The Internship is available to candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree in engineering or diploma in Design-Thinking and have relevant work experience.

Interns have the flexibility to locate themselves in either Cape Town or Johannesburg, based on their interests. They will be exposed to the unique challenges and opportunities presented through rail engineering within a developing nation, as well as gain a keen awareness of how the industry functions both in the African context as well as on a global scale.

Responsibilities and projects offered to the interns are tailored to their individual qualifications, background, and interests.

They will have direct stakeholder interaction and project ownership, as well as exposure to different projects at varying stages.

Additionally, the CTE Skills Accelerator offers paid internships based on the intern’s qualification and timeframe for the Internship.

It is preferred that interns are 23 and older. The minimum commitment of 6 months.

Interns to have outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, project management experience, and strong business development and strategy background. They should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of engineering, product or process innovations, and design, as well as leadership and management skills. Grit, courage, adaptability, perseverance, and a minimum commitment of six months are also required.

The application process is ongoing, and applications must be received no less than one month before the proposed start date. After an application has been reviewed, shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit an essay on their passion and how the Internship will further their growth and development.

Successful candidates will be invited to a remote 30-minute interview, where they will be assessed based on the projects CTE Skills Accelerator Internship is actively involved in and key capabilities required such as analysis, proposal applications, financial modelling, and impact modelling.

In addition to offering an immersive and well-rounded experience, the CTE Skills Accelerator Internship incorporates innovations management by exposing Interns to different projects at varying stages. This ensures that interns gain practical experience in applying innovation management principles to real-world projects.
